Scripture to read today:
Proverbs 10; Proverbs 11; Proverbs 12; Romans 10
Scripture that spoke to me:
Romans 10:9-10
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
Observation:
It comes down to this- confess that Jesus is your Lord and Savior, believe in His resurrection, and you are saved. No amount of good deeds will get you into heaven if you haven’t done this one thing. “For it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
Application:
I was reading the Proverbs passages and so many of them have to do with the way your mouth can get you into trouble- this passage tells you how your mouth gets you OUT of trouble! The best part is- it is so easy! I’m not saying don’t do good deeds- James 2:10 points out that faith without deeds is useless. But so is good deeds without faith.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, please help my mouth keep me out of trouble. Let me not gossip, judge my neighbor, and remember to always confess that Jesus is my Savior. Amen.
